Autumn Lady's Tresses

In mid-summer when the birding can be slow our meadows, marshes, hedgerows and woods come alive with butterflies, dragonflies and elusive wild orchids. These day tours are to provide the birder or general naturalist to make the most of this season and see some of our local treasures.

Many of the sites are kept secret by those 'in the know' but we are firm believers that these wonders of the natural world should be available to all. Our years of experience in this field men we have many sites up our sleeves.

Our days out are of course weather dependant to some extent but the list of species is impressive indeed.

Butterflies could include Swallowtail, Green Hairstreak, White-letter Hairstreak, Silver-studded Blue, Chalkhill Blue, Grizzled Skipper, Dingy Skipper and Dark Green Fritillary.

Special dragonflies like Norfolk Hawker, Hairy Dragonfly, Downy Emerald, Black Darter, Keeled Skimmer, Scarce Chaser, Small Red Damselfly, Scarce Emerald Damselfly and Variable Damselfly.

Orchids abound with several real rarities such as Fen Orchid, Pugsley's Marsh Orchid, Frog Orchid, Man Orchid, Birdsnest Orchid, the ochroleuca form of Early Marsh Orchid at its only UK site, Autumn Lady's Tresses and Green-flowered Helleborine.

The tour should appeal to birders who want to expand into other areas and photographers alike.
